As designs become smaller and more mobile, interconnection is getting more and more attention. How important is the role of industrial connectors? No matter how powerful the device is, without an industrial connector to connect with data I/O and power, the device will not do anything in any case, so the role of the industrial connector is the most critical. However, choosing the right industrial connector for the equipment is not easy, because there are a large number of commercial mechanical connectors to choose from, the following is to introduce what problems to pay attention to when choosing industrial connectors.
1. Electrical parameters of industrial connectors. Will the connector pass a microampere signal or a lot of amperage power? Must high or low frequency digital or analog signals be accommodated, or may they be used in combination? Is masking required to protect signal integrity? The same connector that transmits the electrical signal in any combination may also have to act as a host to get the fiber information. For medical devices, liquids or gases may need to pass through the same inlet, and custom connectors may be required.
2. Constraints of industrial connectors. Will the connector be built to a desktop or smartphone? The same combination of signal and power may have to come in or out of either device, but obviously it will have to be compressed into much less space in the latter, and in the case of wearables, the connector will also be compressed into much less space.
3. Environmental conditions of industrial connectors. Are industrial connectors subject to vibration, shock or extreme temperatures? Fortunately, most industrial connector manufacturers' data sheets will clarify the ability of their industrial connectors to operate under such challenges, and attention to detail will protect against too little or too much specification.
